The island of Murter is located in the Dalmatia region and is about 30 kilometres north of Sibenik. On the island there are the villages of Tisno, Jezera, Betina and the town of the same name, Murter.
During the season (May to mid-September), the island is connected to the mainland by a swing bridge from the village of Tisno, making it easily accessible for all holidaymakers.
The inhabitants of the island of Murter have lived mainly from fishing, seafaring and agriculture for generations. That is why there are plenty of good restaurants on the island of Murter that will provide you with culinary delights.
The main town of the same name, Murter, has around 3,000 inhabitants and lies at the foot of the Raduc hill. Over the years, it has grown together with Stara Murter and Betina and is the liveliest place on the island of Murter. Around the newly designed main square, Trg Rudina, there are many cafes, restaurants and small souvenir stalls that provide you with everything you need. There is also a large marina and once a year on the traditional feast day "Sv. Mihovil", the traditional Gajeta sailing boats are taken out for a regatta.
In Betina, the old town centre with its many old alleyways and houses exudes a cosy holiday atmosphere. There are a number of good restaurants around the square at the harbour that cater for the physical well-being of holidaymakers. Over the years, Betina has long since grown together with the town of Murter through many new housing developments. In the northern part of the village there is a marina that offers safe moorings for boat owners.
The village of Jezera has a well-protected harbour basin around which many cafés and fish restaurants are located. The village is now home to around 400 people and for us Jezera is an absolute insider tip for fish lovers and those looking for a holiday destination where that certain romantic holiday flair has not yet been lost! It is also known for its beautiful campsites and the great offer for big game fishing in Croatia!
The small town of Tisno is connected to the mainland by a swing bridge and has around 1200 inhabitants. There are only a few shops and restaurants in Tisno that cater for the guests of the surrounding campsite and hotel. Worth seeing are the parish church of the Holy Spirit and the 18th century church of Our Lady of Caravaggio
